Langsheng: Show a broader portfolio of high quality coatings products at the European Paint Fair in 2019

2019-03-13

Net News: Langsheng, a special chemical company, will take part in the European Paint Exhibition 2019 in Nuremberg from March 19 to 21, 2019 to show its most extensive high-quality paint product portfolio so far. This year, it includes not only colorants, preservatives and benzyl products, but also a wide range of waterborne special polyurethane dispersion (PUD) and polyurethane prepolymer coating systems. One of the key points will be to introduce new raw materials for coatings to prepare solvent-free, low-monomer and easy-to-use systems, which are suitable for wide applications ranging from fiberglass and plastic coatings to automotive paints.

Custom Solutions - Solvent Free, Low Monomer, Easy to Use

"In 2017, we supplemented our extensive CASE applications by acquiring Kojua's high-performance polyurethane business. We are presenting these tested and tested new products in the name of Langsheng for the first time at the leading trade fairs in the paint and varnish industry, "said Dr. Matthias Huettl, Global Marketing Manager, URE Business Unit. CASE stands for coatings, sealants, adhesives and elastomers.

The emphasis here is our witcobond brand waterborne polyurethane dispersion and Trixene Aqua series waterborne sealing crosslinking agent for high performance coatings.

In addition to waterborne polyurethane dispersions and blocking crosslinkers, various prepolymers with low residual monomer content (< 0.1% free isocyanate) are also included. NCO content and viscosity can be adjusted according to application and customer requirements. The product range also includes closed variants of 1K system formulation. With these product systems, combined with Langsheng Polymer's more than 60 years of experience in ammonia esterification and formula expertise, to ensure that its customers provide high added value.

Global New Red Pigment Standard

Lansai new iron oxide red pigments produced in Ningbo of China have been verified in practice: after a long-term test by major domestic paint manufacturers, the final standard has been determined, and the trial products have been renamed as conventional sales products. They are now part of the new global Bayferrox 500 series. With these "new red" pigments, Langsheng is improving its product mix, especially in bright yellow-red pigments. Bayferrox 502, the yellow iron oxide red pigment in Langsheng series, has the highest chroma in both full-tone and reduced state. Stephan Spiegelhauer, head of Coatings and Coatings at the Global Competitiveness Center of Inorganic Pigments Business (IPG), said: "Our proven color stability and strict product specifications mean that new types of pigments can be reliably used in all common paint systems."

Maximum wear resistance and temperature stability

Longsheng uses LAUX process to produce micro-pink red pigments which also meet the most stringent requirements. These calcination types have unique performance characteristics and are distinguished from all other iron oxide pigments available in the market for coatings and coatings applications in two basic aspects. First, they have the highest grinding stability. LAUX pigments can resist color change even when they are subjected to high shear stress during dispersion. Secondly, the thermal stability of these pigments is as high as 800 C, whereas red pigments (hematite, Fe2O3) produced by other manufacturing processes can only tolerate up to 400 C due to their chemical structure.

Challenges in Pigment Preparation

In Nuremberg, Langsheng will display water-based pigments from Levanyl and Levanox brands. They are characterized by high color intensity, small particle size, low viscosity and good compatibility with many customer systems. They do not contain solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOC). Many of the products of these two brands also conform to DIN EN 71, EU toy safety directives and eco-label standards, such as Blue Angel or Nordic Eco-label.

In addition, Longsheng will present the new Levanyl X series. These water-based, solvent-free and organic pigments are suitable for decorative coatings and inks, paper, synthetic leather, wood preservatives and other applications. Morten Bernhardt, global product manager of Rhein Chemie's business division, explained: "Universal products combine many of the beneficial features of today's growing customer needs, such as cost efficiency, broad technical compatibility, color fastness and good processability."

Industrial Chemicals: High Quality Formulas for Global Application

Longsheng's benzyl products also play an important role in the paint industry. One example is the solvent benzyl alcohol, which is used to produce high quality paint and varnish formulations. The company is a leading manufacturer of this ultra-pure substance, with production bases in India and Germany. With these two facilities, advanced industrial intermediates business units can provide this key chemical to global companies that operate in different production locations and small and medium-sized enterprises in different countries. Langsheng is taking advantage of its rich experience in production planning and logistics. In 2018, the German production base celebrated its 110th anniversary, providing an impressive demonstration of the company's sustainable production methods.
